The Windermere Building forms part of Runshaw College’s investment in its Leyland campus, creating a new purpose-built science teaching facility. The two-storey development will provide 12 science laboratories, an IT suite and collaborative learning space, expanding the facilities available to students and teaching staff.

Science teaching accommodation requires careful coordination between the building’s construction, internal layouts and specialist services. Fieldpark Interiors Ltd’s package comprises steel framing systems (SFS), internal partitions, plastering and acoustic rafts, contributing to the formation and finishing of the new spaces.

About the Works

Windermere is designed to support both practical science lessons and classroom learning. Its interiors need to accommodate the requirements of different teaching spaces while providing a comfortable environment for students and staff.

Fieldpark’s works bring together SFS framing, partitions and plaster finishes, with attention to the junctions between individual systems. Acoustic rafts within designated areas help absorb sound and reduce reverberation, supporting acoustic comfort within the teaching environment.

Project Scope

• Steel Framing Systems (SFS)

Installation of SFS framing in accordance with the project design and specified construction details.

• Internal Partitions

Installation of partition systems to form the approved teaching and supporting spaces, with careful detailing around openings and adjoining construction.

• Plastering

Plastering and finishing of new wall surfaces to create smooth, consistent backgrounds ready for decoration.

• Acoustic Rafts

Installation of suspended acoustic rafts within designated spaces to help control reverberation and improve acoustic comfort.
